Dear Beautiful Community,
If you’ve ever wondered how a drink makes its way from an idea to your cup, here’s a little peek behind the curtain.
The shift into September always gets us thinking differently. The heat of summer lingers in Las Vegas, but there’s a craving for comfort, for flavors that feel like they belong to fall. Around our tasting table, we started tossing ideas back and forth: something nutty? Something sweet? Something that feels like that first sweater you pull out of the closet, even though it’s still too hot to wear outside.
That’s how the Toffee Nut Latte was born. We played with syrups, adjusted the roast notes, added a little more depth here, a little more sweetness there. The toffee gave us warmth, the nut added grounding, and together it felt like September in a cup. A bridge between the heat of summer and the richness of fall.
But there’s another layer. While we were building this flavor, we were also thinking about what September means beyond the season. It’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and that’s when we knew this latte had to be more than cozy. It had to have purpose.
So we partnered with Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, Nevada’s only pediatric cancer treatment center. As we dialed in the recipe, we thought about the families who walk through their doors, the kids who are in the hardest battles of their lives, and how a simple drink could be tied to something bigger.
This is the part of the process most people don’t see. Creating a drink isn’t just about flavor. It’s about meaning. It’s about asking what the season calls for, what our community needs, and how coffee can carry that forward.
So when you sip a Toffee Nut Latte this month, know that you’re tasting more than espresso, toffee, and nut. You’re tasting the conversations, the experiments, the intention. You’re tasting September.
With love,
Mother Roast
