Some stories aren’t easy to tell, but they’re the ones that most need to be shared.
A few weeks ago, I sat with my coffee and thought about how many moments in our day hinge on freedom: freedom to speak, to gather, to live as ourselves without fear. It’s so woven into our daily lives that sometimes, we forget it’s not guaranteed. There are people working every day to protect it, to defend it, to push back when it’s threatened.
This month, our Sip With Purpose is for them. And for all of us.
The idea for the Cherry Dark Mocha Cold Brew Latte didn’t just appear on a whim. It came from one of those long conversations we have around the cupping table, the kind where flavor notes mingle with talk about what’s happening in our community and who we feel called to stand beside.
We kept circling back to the ACLU Nevada. The work they do is layered and, honestly, heavy at times. They’re in courtrooms, in neighborhoods, in the spaces where rights are tested and voices need to be heard. It’s not neat or easy, but it’s necessary.
Somewhere in that discussion, someone said cherry felt right, bright but grounded, unexpected yet familiar. Paired with dark chocolate, it had the same kind of complexity we were talking about in their work. A drink that could be both comforting and thought-provoking.
So when we pour that swirl of cherry and chocolate over cold brew this month, we’re not just thinking about flavor. We’re thinking about the countless small, steady acts that add up to change. The conversations that start over coffee. The awareness that builds quietly, cup by cup.
So here’s to sipping boldly. To choosing with intention. To standing for justice, even in small ways.
